Another Tidyman from Japan, this one was found on the front of one of the many vending machines found on the streets of Tokyo.
Following on from yesterday’s post about Calbee crisps, this character was found on a different flavour of the Japanese potato stick snacks. Walkers have launched a new range of ‘Deep Ridged’ crinkle cut crisps, complete with an appropriate tidyman climbing a ridge.
The Tidyman is the star of this Transport for London poster campaign currently running on the London Underground.
Barracloughs Sparkling Dandelion and Burdock is a traditional brand, which is reflected in this Victorian Style Tidyman, complete with Penny-farthing bike.
This chubby bird character comes from a packet of Atori spicy sticks, made by Siam Snacks in Thailand. Unfortunately their website doesn’t seem to work, so I can’t link to them, but you should be able to find them in oriental supermarkets.
Today’s Tidyman comes from the A HEADLINE A DAY blog. As the website explains: A HEADLINE A DAY is a blog dedicated to turning the days most interesting/sensational headline into a pictogram. Some pictograms involve a simple re-rendering of the image used in the newspaper, while others rely on a deeper understanding of the story in a bid to find the distinguishing elements which convey the meaning of the content in its most concise form.

Keep Britain Tidy will introduce a new Tidyman design as part of a ‘Love Where You Live’ campaign. It appears businesses are going to be charged to use the logo for the first time when it is rolled out in the spring.

Tango have used temperature sensitive ink on a range of limited edition cans. The ink is being used to reveal a tongue-in-cheek strap line when the cans are chilled to the correct temperature. Yesterday’s mouse design is a vast improvement on the previous ‘bin it’ effort on Walkers Wotsits.
A great way to complete the less than 99 calories range – the Tidyman becomes a mouse on cheese flavoured Wotsits.

Walkers has brought four of its snack brands together under a new 99 Calories or less banner. The range, which includes Quavers, Wotsits, Squares and French Fries, has been re-launched with new pack designs to coincide with a focus on a “New Year New Me” theme.
Luckily for us, the new pack designs come complete with new Tidymen – featured here is the French Fries design. Quavers, Squares and Wotsits to follow soon!

A slightly different post today, as rather than appearing on the usual packaging, here the Tidyman is the star of an advertising campaign. It is for the contemporary furniture store Heal’s. The example above is from a newspaper advert. The Creative Director of the campaign was Andrew Fraser, and full details of the campaign can be found on his website, including press and posters, online and in-store applications.

This spooky Tidyman appears on the Halloween-inspired ‘Party Potions’ promotional packaging on Dr Pepper bottles. The ‘Party Potions’ packs feature party guides that include Halloween themed recipes, decorations and games. The other drinks involved in the promotional campaign – Sprite and Fanta carry their usual Tidyman, but with a cauldron replacing the bin.
An update to the previous Fanta post, it appears there are slight variations of the Tidyman depending on which size Fanta product you buy. The previous entry was from a 500ml bottle, but on the 2 litre bottle shown here the ‘Todd’ Character is joined by a dog. On other size containers the dog features, but in different places, for example on the 150ml mini cans the dog can be seen peering from behind the nutritional information.
The Toffee Crisp chocolate bar gets itself into the bin.
A typographic entry , as the ‘Y’ from Yorkie turns into a Tidyman. This is from the biscuit version of the Yorkie snack as opposed to the chocolate bar version, which just has a standard Tidyman. A white version of the ‘Y’ Tidyman appears on the outside of the multipack packaging.
Red Sky Crisps are advertised as 100% Natural, and the Tidyman wearing a country style hat reflects this. It is interesting to note that the crisps are made by Walkers, although for marketing purposes no Walkers Branding appears on the packaging, advertising or website . However, Tidyman followers will notice that the Red Sky Tidyman has a distinctly Walkers look to it!

As a follow up to yesterday’s Tidyman, here is the second of the Monster Munch set – this one is Flamin’ Hot flavour.
Some research on the Fanta website tells me this character is called Todd, and he is part of the ‘Fanta Gang’. This Tidyman is taken from a bottle of orange flavour Fanta. I wonder if any of his friends appear on other flavours of Fanta? According to wikipedia there are over 90 flavours available worldwide!
New levels of Tidyman inventiveness are reached with this example, taken from a packet of Doritos iD3. The concept of iD3 is interesting, with consumers being invited to guess the mystery flavour of the Doritos, with a chance of winning £20,000. The Tidyman symbol used on the packaging is just as intriguing, with a second man peeking out from behind the Green Dot symbol, which often appears on packaging alongside the Tidyman. The Green Dot symbol’s use in the UK is controversial, but here it is used creatively by the packaging designers to provide a point of interest.
Another typographic solution, as the K from the Kit Kat chocolate bar logo is incorporated into the Tidyman symbol.
A typographic entry today, as the letter T from the Tennent’s logo gets the Tidyman treatment.
An interesting example from Sure deodorant. Where other examples featured on this site use slight variations on the standard Tidyman or increase brand awareness through incorporating part of the company logo or promotional character, this does neither. Instead, we have a stick man, with an oversized bin – SUREly in this case using the standard Tidyman would have sufficed?
